What is Organization?
Organization is the intentional effort to plan, arrange, manage, or put one’s affairs in order to deal with them effectively and efficiently. This could mean organization financially, socially, or spiritually. It could also refer to something on a smaller scale such as organizing one’s room.
1. Joy
Many of us may go through organized seasons of life. What type of feeling do we usually have during this time? Joy and accomplishment. Being organized doesn’t just end with tidying up things around the house. It bleeds into every part of our lives. When we organize and stay prepared for each weeks tasks, we create joy in our lives. Being organized is fun!
2. Reliability/Reputation
We all have those friends who though we love them to death, we know we cannot count on them because they can barely count on their selves. They are messy, forgetful, and disorganized people and their lives reflect that. Who are the most reliable people we know? Those who stay organized and on top of the tasks that come their way. Not only this, but if you have kids, anything you do is teaching them what is right. As parents, how you live and how you act is teaching your children that this behavior is acceptable and will tend to imitate. Model organization for your kids. It is a lifestyle everyone should be taught. Be reliable, your reputation and kids count on it.
3. Motivation
Studies have shown that when you are in an atmosphere or even a lifestyle of organization and preparedness, motivation to do even the mundane can be exciting. When we pursue organization in every aspect in our lives (financially, spiritually, academically, and even socially) we create motivation to do the things we might sometimes not want to do like going to work, school, etc.
4. Therapeutic
For some, organization is therapeutic. I would be one of those people. Some hate the idea of having to organize a building or a room or even having to prepare lunch for the next day. For those who find this therapeutic, it can relieve stress to clean and rearrange sometimes. For book lovers, organizing a book shelf is like eating candy!
5. Time Saver
We all have had the feeling of waking up late for work or school, rushing out the door and forgetting important items. Organizing could have prevented this. Make sure to set alarm clock (not your phone because they have proven unreliable. Invest in an old-fashioned alarm clock), organize all of the items you need into one place for the next morning, lay out the clothes you will be wearing, and write everything down if you have to. All of these things will save you time. This time saving example isn’t only for the next day’s task, but many other aspects as well. Organization saves time. If we have organized and prepared appropriately, we never feel rushed or overwhelmed.
6. Money Saver
Not only can organization save you time, but it can also save you money. Meal preparations for the week is just one example. Organizing and planning where to shop efficiently for anything you have to purchase also saves….well, your money.
7. Panic Saver
If you stay organized and prepared, you never have to worry where things are or worry about forgetting. The anxiety and panic that disorganization once caused can be gone forever!
8. Flexibility
When you plan and organize appropriately, flexibility is more of an option. When random tasks get thrown at you, or emergencies that immediately call for your attention, proper organization will allow room for you to be flexible.
9. Creativity
If anyone has been in organization mode at some point in their life, they realize that creativity has naturally been sparked. An example would organizing my room. My room is somewhat pretty small. When you have a lot of possessions and a small room, your only option is organization with a blend of creativity to create space.
Conclusion
It shouldn’t be hard to convince you to be organized. It is an obvious. If this is the case, why do so many people constantly stay disorganized? The answer is because just like everything else in life, you must put in the effort and time. Organization, as cliché as it is, is a lifestyle. A person is considered an organized person if they clean their room when it gets messy. This is just one part of organization of aspect of life. Your life doesn’t just consist of the cleanliness of your bedroom. This is why organization is a lifestyle. It is hard and it can seem a waste of time at times, but you won’t regret. You will see the benefits and so will others. Be organized!
